As a mom to 3 active boys, I cherish a little peace & quiet "me time" every now and then (although let's be honest...I normally have to wait until all the kids are asleep before that can happen 😊), and one of my favorite ways to do that at home is by taking a bath. The simple addition of Young Living Oils turns a regular Epsom Salt bath into something much more luxurious. Water and Oil don't mix, so if you just add your drops of oil to your bath water, the oil will just float on the surface. However, if you add your oils to some Epsom Salt first, your oils will dissolve evenly throughout your bath water. Plus, you can buy a big bag of plain Epsom Salt for under $5 and have the resources to enjoy multiple baths. My boys tend to take showers because they are quick, but when they have the opportunity to take a bath, even they enjoy picking out a combo of oils to enjoy while they soak.
Here's what we do in our house:
•Measure out 1 cup of Epsom Salt into a container with a lid.
•Add 4-6 drops of Oils to the Epsom Salt
•Put lid securely on your container and shake the contents to disperse oils throughout the Epsom Salt
•Pour the mixture into your tub as you fill it with your bath water.
•Enjoy your bath!!
With Young Living Essential Oils the combinations you could create for bath time are seemingly endless, but to get you started, here's a quick list of my family's Top 10 Epsom Salt Bath recipes just using the oils from your Young Living Premium Starter Kit (number of drops I add to 1 cup of Epsom Salt are in parentheses):
•Lavender (4-6): This oil all alone was the first of my oils I used in a relaxing bath, and is still a favorite on its own in my house. Lavender is known to support so many systems of your body, and is a light floral (yet woodsy) smell I enjoy. I think this scent is a classic in bath products for a reason, and is a quick easy go-to for bath time.
• Lemon/Lavender/Peppermint (2/2/2): Not only is this a nice smelling combo, this trio is often used as a way to offer relief to people needing seasonal support.
•Lemon/Lavender/Copaiba (2/2/2): Lemon is a citrusy uplifting top note, Lavender is a sweet herbaceous middle note, and Copaiba is a subtle balsamic base note. I find this combo to have a nice balanced aroma when I want to relax in my tub.
• Lemon/Peppermint/Frankincense (2/3/1): I like to use this combo for muscle support if I get to take a bath early in the day, because of its bright & energizing smell.
•Lavender/Frankincense (4/2): a powerhouse combo for skin support and is a nice relaxing blend to support so many systems of your body as you get ready for bed.
•Frankincense/Copaiba (3/3): This is another great grounding combo for a bath before bedtime especially if you prefer a woodsy smell over anything floral or citrus.
•Thieves (4-6): Thieves is a blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, Rosemary for a bath that helps support your immune system
•Panaway (4-6): Panaway is a blend of Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, Peppermint for a bath that supports your muscles
•Stress Away (4-6): Stress Away is a blend of Copaiba, Lavender, Cedarwood, Ocotea, Lime, Vanilla for a bath when you really just want to relax after a long day
•RC (4-6): RC is a blend of Eucalyptus Globulus, Eucalyptus Radiata, Eucalyptus Citriodora, Myrtle, Pine, Marjoram, Lavender, Cypress, Black Spruce, Peppermint for a bath when you are needing respiratory support.
Obviously, these recipes can all be made fancier with the addition of things like dried lavender buds or herbs, or oatmeal, or even the addition of pink Himalayan Sea Salt (just to name a few ideas that would take these easy recipes to a great gift giving level), but things don't have to complicated to be effective and enjoyable.
So I encourage you to carve out 20 minutes of your day, grab your bag of Epsom salts & your favorite combo of oils, and start running that bath water because its bath time!
